The staff were warm and the location was great. I really liked the atmosphere too, it’s a charming place with plenty of character. The bathroom was lovely and comfortable, and everything was clean. Breakfast was local, simple, and good. I did run into quite a few mosquitoes, though it seemed they were trying to deal with them. The towels also felt ready for an update. Still, I had a very pleasant stay.

The location was perfect, and it’s unusual to find a historical building kept in such good shape. Our host was very friendly and regularly checked whether we needed anything. We had the room other reviews call the “noisy room,” but slept well each night with earplugs, and might have managed without them. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. We’d love to come back.

We felt right at home here, especially with our background in antiques. The owner was welcoming and gave us useful dining tips. The heritage house on Love Lane has been renovated beautifully, with a spacious room, a gorgeous bathroom, and an indoor balcony overlooking the quirky boutique shop and cafe below. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the sheets felt silky. A top-notch little find. We’d recommend it 100%. Thank you xx

The guesthouse feels very authentic, with lovely attention to detail, and it’s a special place for the price. Its old town location is ideal for wandering George Town’s streets. A two to three minute walk to the left from the entrance brings you to lots of smart cafes, good restaurants, and bars. I’d stay again, but choose one of the three rooms away from the road instead of the North Suite, Room 1. That room had constant traffic noise and faces a school, so mornings were noisy too. The bathroom tap kept dripping, the shower attachment was broken, and the shutter let in light. The Wi-Fi was poor, and light from inside the building came through the glass above the entrance door. The owners have a gem of a heritage building, but the North Suite needs a day of maintenance. Boosters could improve the Wi-Fi throughout. These seem like inexpensive fixes, and even with a 10% price increase to cover them, I think the place would still book up because it’s so unique. I don’t like criticising it, since it only needs a little attention.

The old shophouse was an interesting place to stay, but there are just four rooms. During our visit another room was occupied, which we were glad about. Once staff finish their shift, you could otherwise be alone in the huge building, so solo travellers who aren’t comfortable with that much space may want to think twice. Our duplex had the bed upstairs and bathroom downstairs. Be careful on the stairs if you need the toilet in the night. There were no slippers or toothbrush. The floor was very clean, but a broken armchair on our balcony looked unsettling and out of place. The air conditioner sits above the bed, with a loose vent blowing straight onto it. The mattress sank around the hips and didn’t support my lower back well, which was the biggest disappointment. We were in the north spine courtyard. It was quiet at night, but the school across the street was noisy in the morning. The house is old, so we could hear a neighbor on the stairs, and the water pipes were loud when she showered. Wi-Fi was weak upstairs by the bed, and videos wouldn’t load.
