Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences, Genting Highlands

Black particles were plainly visible on the bed and bedside table when I arrived at my room on the 13A floor. It made me question whether housekeeping had properly cleaned and checked the room before check-in. Finding debris where guests sleep is unacceptable, especially at a hotel that presents itself as quality accommodation. This was a very disappointing stay at Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residence Genting Highlands. For the price, I expected much better attention to cleanliness. The facilities and location may have good points, but they can’t make up for poor room hygiene. I hope management reviews housekeeping and quality control, because this fell far below expectations and made a very poor first impression.

The staff across the hotel were warm, attentive, and always ready to help, which made the stay pleasant from start to finish. The location is excellent and made getting around convenient. Breakfast had plenty of variety, and the salad bar’s range of dressings was a nice touch. The pastries stood out, especially the croissants. They were so good that our family ate more than 10! Highly recommended.

We stayed at Swiss-Garden Hotel and Resort for 3 days and 2 nights, from 20th June to 22nd June 2026. Parking was adequate, too. While waiting to check in, guests can use a simple self-service drink counter with paper cups and iced lemon grass drink, and there’s a reading area with books and sofas. The room was on the 35th floor (WC 353A), with a nice jungle view and no significant obstruction from other tall buildings. Mornings were extremely misty, with a pleasantly cool breeze. Our room faced the other side of the hotel/apartment, away from the side that gets the very strong misty wind from the top of the mountain Genting Resort is on. The rooms were well cleaned. The general bathroom had a musty smell at first, but it went away after a few baths. The master bedroom’s attached toilet had no smell issue. There were two pillows per person, clean towels for four, plus smaller towels for different needs. The kitchen had a stove, frying pan, basic kitchenware, and a microwave for reheating food. A front-load washing machine was tucked under the counter. Room service was prompt, usually arriving soon after we called the phone hotline. A couple of small gripes: water pressure in the general toilet was a little low, so rinsing off soap took longer. TV options were limited to regular channels, enough for some news and sports, but there was no smart TV for Netflix or YouTube. Breakfast was decent in my opinion, though some might find the selection limited. Asian choices included nasi lemak, curry chicken (Sunday), ayam berempah (Mon), mini Chinese steamed pau, samosa, and a simple self-serve chicken noodle station. There was also Chinese-style self-serve porridge with condiments, sesame oil, and soy sauce. The Western section had chicken hams, hash browns, fried beef strips, thick chicken sausages, scrambled eggs, and baked beans. At the live egg station you could ask for scrambled, an omelette, or sunny-side-up. There were cereals for kids, vegetables and salad including tomatoes, green lettuces, onions, and olives, plus watermelon and pineapple. Drinks included apple, orange, and mango juices and coffee from a machine. Breads included French baguette, mini croissants, sugared donuts, and more. Staff were attentive and cleared tables quickly. Facilities include a pool on the highest floor, though pool towels aren’t provided, and a gym and sauna on the topmost 40th+ floor. That’s higher than most hotels around the area, with a view and a view. Each block has gardens and an outdoor gym on the 9th floor. On the same 5th floor as the breakfast buffet, there’s a playground, a small walking area, gazebos for shelter, and a BBQ area with two long stone benches that needs booking 1 week in advance. There’s also a conference/event room on that floor. The 5th floor was surprisingly windy. Check-out is at 12pm. Extensions are usually unavailable on busy days like public holidays and weekends, and a late checkout is charged RM150 per hour. We were able to leave later on a Monday after politely asking at the lobby. It was a relaxing, cool place to get away from KL’s heat and the El Nino phenomenon expected to persist until early 2027. Thanks to all the staff and security for their cordial, friendly hospitality.

We got a great deal, RM300 for a night in a 2-bedroom apartment with four breakfasts included, and it made for a pleasant family stay with the kids. I’d rate this accommodation a 3.5-star service apartment. Apartment C3605 was spacious and had a washing machine, though no dryer. The morning cloud view was breathtaking. There was some traffic noise at night, but it was tolerable and didn’t spoil our sleep. The pool has a spectacular view of the Genting Highland, and breakfast was good. The Nasi Lemak and Chicken Rendang were especially delicious. Nearby shops and eateries make the location convenient. We highly recommend Zul Corner Bikers next to the hotel: affordable, tasty, and a nice place to mingle with locals. It’s a bit of a drive to GPO and the Theme Park. We skipped the free shuttle, but Grab was easy to find. A ride to GPO cost RM12–RM20, and the return from the Theme Park at night was around RM30–RM40. A wonderful weekend escape. If you find a deal with breakfast included, I’d recommend it for a family stay.
