1969 D'kelly Hotel

The breakfast selection was pretty limited, but we still had a lovely stay. This hotel was great for our baby, and they even supplied a tub and a beautiful cot for little Shyan. The family room had a mini balcony, and the touch controls were really handy. Everything in the room felt cool and well thought out. The woman and man at check-in were helpful and rushed to get our rooms ready side by side. There’s also a bakery right next door that stays open until 2 am, which is a handy tip. Little Shyan was excited the whole time.

The hotel is in an excellent, convenient spot, but the room layout caused a few hassles. There wasn’t a proper place to hang wet towels, and the shower ran out of body wash and shampoo. After we called customer service, it took about 30 minutes for replacements to arrive. We were also surprised that a hotel of this size and standard didn’t have a basic sewing kit, which is usually a standard amenity in most hotels. These design and service issues had a real effect on our stay. I hope management takes them seriously and makes improvements.

The pool was a big hit with our kids, especially with that lovely airport view, and the rooftop viewing point gave us a breathtaking panorama of Ipoh. Our room was excellent too, with strong water pressure, a Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom, and a little private balcony we really liked. The food was delicious, and the hallways and rooms smelled wonderful throughout our stay. D Kelly Hotel has a charming English-style atmosphere that gives it a distinctive feel. We were impressed by the facilities and hospitality, had a fantastic time, and will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

The buffet breakfast downstairs was a highlight, with a nice spread of Western and Australian choices alongside local food, plus lots of juice and other drinks. The kitchen staff and front-of-house chefs were awesome. There’s also a French-style cafe attached, and a bazaar or food market opens after 4pm. The hotel feels modern and high-tech, with a clean, comfortable, luxurious feel and thoughtful design. Really impressed.
