Hotel Ipoh City

We stayed two nights on our first visit. The hotel was very affordable and quiet, and it’s about an 18-minute drive from the lost world of Tambun. The outside may look old, but our room was super clean. We’d definitely come back.

The room and bathroom were very large and extremely clean. The hotel is a little removed from eateries. On Sunday mornings, a market nearby sells old and antique things, even broken appliances. Handy if you're hunting for obsolete parts.

It suited us really well. The staff were so friendly, and the place felt warm and very quiet.

We were unhappy with how this was handled. We had booked two rooms for one night at Hotel Ipoh City well in advance, and have been regular customers since 2007. We arrived early, around 08:35 am on 28th June 2025. A young man at the Front Office said the rooms wouldn't be ready until noon, which we understood. We left our car outside Hotel Ipoh City and went to Penang with a friend. Our return trip to Ipoh City was delayed by circumstances we couldn't avoid, so at 9:58 pm I called to say we were on our way to check in. The Reception staff member who answered, whose name I don't know, told me the two reserved rooms had already been sold and said he'd called me but got no answer. We checked our phones and had no missed calls from Hotel Ipoh City. I didn't want to waste time arguing, so I called Symphony Suites Hotel to find a room. When we returned to Hotel Ipoh City for our car, my husband went to the desk to ask what had happened. The staff offered one superior room. Why was he so rude? Had he checked the system, or spoken with his colleagues before telling us the rooms were gone? I want to give five stars to Normala and a Chinese girl who have handled our reservations since day one. They have always been friendly and kind, and are good staff. from : Mrs. Siva
