Legacy Hotel Ipoh

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and it was easy to find the hotel. There’s a food stall close by and parking right in front was easy. Our room was roomy, clean, and comfortable, with a small freezer for food. The bathroom had a water heater and hair dryer, and there was a water dispenser for making coffee.

I’ve stayed here regularly, but my visit on 17th Sept was awful. The water heater didn’t work and the towels were dusty. Front office staff said they’d send someone to fix it, but nobody came. When I went down for an update, I got a rude response along the lines of, what did I expect for the rate I was paying. The staff member came out from behind the counter and threatened me physically, asking why I complained to him when he hadn’t promised the repair. I told him not to touch me and cancelled all my future bookings. Apparently the hotel has been sold and has new management. Maybe they have a different kind of clientele in mind now. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

We booked a standard triple room for a weekend public holiday. There was plenty of free parking in front of the hotel that weekend. The building is in a roadside shop lot in an area that feels more like offices. Petronas is behind the hotel, around an 8-10 minute walk away, with a McDonald's next to it. The room was a little tight, and there wasn’t much space to perform salah, but I liked its layout and furniture. There’s a built-in plug by the bed, which is handy for charging a phone. The mirror and TV are positioned well for watching a movie, even though channel choices are limited. Mostly white colors made it feel warm and cozy. The bathroom was quite spacious, with a lovely, luxurious-looking design that was practical too. There’s a lift and an ironing room on the ground floor. Our room had a kettle, some 3-in-1 drinks, towels, shampoo, and shower gel. The front desk was okay. We called to ask for a sajada and were told one would be brought, but it never arrived before checkout.

The room was clean, but there weren’t any toiletries, not even toothpaste. When I asked at reception, they said they didn’t provide it. Eh, hotels don’t provide toothpaste meh?
