New Caspian Hotel

There’s a classic, nostalgic feel to the place, and I loved it. The air conditioning gets really cold, and there’s hot water. It’s also well placed among all kinds of places to eat, with Ipoh Parade a little farther up the road. You can’t go wrong staying here.

Getting to food, shops, and laundry was easy, and I had a great experience here. It didn’t quite meet the expectations I had, though.

I liked the vintage feel, the side parking lot, and the fact there was no deposit. The Indian man at reception was very kind. For a budget hotel, it’s the best one for me. There were a couple of hassles. You can’t adjust the air-con temperature, and you have to get an iron from reception and bring it back. If you’re on an upper floor, that means extra trips up and down the stairs. There’s no lift, so take your own iron if you can.

The room felt very old and the floor was dirty, with lots of sand on it. The air conditioner was old too, noisy, not cold, and had no remote control. Also, the price shown for online booking said taxes and fees were included, but what the counter staff charged didn’t match that.
