RPGC Garden Hotel

I booked two nights but left after one because the room was so uncomfortable and staff were completely unreasonable. When I arrived, the receptionist was asleep at the desk and I had to wake him. The room was dusty, there was hair between the sheets, the bedside lamp buzzed, and the bedroom ceiling fan wouldn't respond to its control. The bedroom air conditioner still didn't work after maintenance tried to fix it. I asked to change rooms and was flatly refused, with no alternative, and told I had to accept the room as it was. When I asked for a refund so I could go elsewhere, they refused, citing hotel policy. We asked for the manager and were told he'd be available in the morning. On Christmas morning, the manager wouldn't meet me, saying he was with a guest. He was rude and said I had to seek cancellation through Agoda because that's where I'd booked, even though the day before I'd been told there'd be no refund. Now he said I could try asking the platform for one. Manager Khairul then told me to let bygones be bygones about his staff's attitude the day before. I filed a police report about this sham and may take it to a tribunal. There's nothing royal about this place. RPGC should fire the manager.

I've stayed here many times because it used to be one of my favourite hotels in Ipoh. The room, facilities, and location are superb, but my visit on 13/12/25 was a huge disappointment. Our room had bed bugs, and everyone who slept there was bitten and had an awful night. My toddler was hit especially hard, waking up crying because the bites were so itchy. I asked for compensation for what we'd been through, but after dealing with manager kyairul azmi, who seemed unprofessional, I left with only a breakfast voucher. He even argued about the room's cleanliness while we were the ones dealing with it. This was seriously my worst stay here. Such a great hotel, but terrible service from someone called a manager. Hotel management should train staff in handling complaints. We paid for somewhere comfortable and convenient to sleep, not a horrifying night. Proper compensation after something like this could keep a loyal customer, but poor service will stop me coming back.

Lots of trees around the hotel give it a peaceful, refreshing feel, almost like being close to nature. The room was clean, roomy, and comfortable for a short getaway. Town is only about five minutes away, so food and attractions are easy to get to. A nice mix of quiet and convenience.

My parent recently stayed at RPGC Ipoh, and the experience was well below expectations. Noise from upgrading work right outside, with workers shouting, made it impossible to rest. There was also a snooker table outside the guest rooms, where some guests played and chatted until after 1am. The room was dirty on arrival, with hair on the floor, a stained basin, and a sunken, neglected sofa. Housekeeping seemed poor. It took 1.5 hours for someone to deal with a broken air conditioner, then another 45 minutes to get parts. Hotel and golf club facilities are managed separately, and as a hotel guest I felt unwelcome using the club's amenities. You have to book ahead to use the gym, and someone always checked which room I was from when I used the tennis court. There were no pool towels either, which made everything feel disjointed and uninviting. They also charged a local tourism fee without telling us beforehand. My parent is Malaysian and local. RPGC Ipoh needs serious improvement in cleanliness, service, and coordination between hotel and club management. I wouldn't recommend it until these problems are addressed.
