The Brownstone Hostel & Space

I left after only about two hours and checked into another hostel because I didn’t feel comfortable staying here. The room had a very strong smell from oriented strand board (OSB) and pink glossy paint, possibly from recent building or painting work. I started getting headaches and coughing, and the inside of my nose hurt. That could be uncomfortable for anyone sensitive to strong chemical or paint smells. The sheets felt unpleasant on my skin and didn’t smell fresh, and no towels were provided. There wasn’t much privacy in the women’s dorm either. With the door open, people sitting just outside could see in, especially if you were standing by your bed to change. I also nearly slipped on the steep alternative staircase on the right while trying to open its heavy door. It has to be pulled toward you, but there isn’t enough room to stand and open it fully, which felt unsafe. This place might suit backpackers who don’t mind those issues. Better ventilation, privacy and safety measures could make it much more comfortable.

The place feels cozy and pleasant, whether you’re in the room or the common area, and I found staying here relaxing and joyful. It’s super clean and comfortable. The owner is really nice, and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. The design has a lot of character, and you can feel the effort put into the details. Highly recommended for a peaceful, enjoyable stay 🥰🥰

I loved everything about this hostel. The place feels carefully put together, and it should be a prime example of how to run a hostel business. I met some girls there and we’re still travelling together! I’d 100% stay again.

One staff member, identifiable by a tattoo on her hand, was extremely rude and showed what I felt was a lack of basic hospitality and respect for guests. That really affected my stay and overshadowed the experience. Ming and Josaline, on the other hand, were kind and helpful, with Ming being especially warm and welcoming. Management needs to address the poor behavior.
