Handy location if you have a full day planned, and there are inexpensive cafes nearby. This is a basic hostel, though it does offer free toasties, jam, and coffee. The bathroom water pressure is low and there's no soap. Toilet tissue is often missing, so bring your own if you need it. Fine for backpackers.

Everything else was fine, but the blankets were such a strange shape. They're long and narrow, so it's hard to cover yourself properly. We got too cold under that strip of fabric and had to turn off the air conditioning, which made having it feel pretty pointless. Maybe that's the idea.

The bed was clean, and the reception was nice. The hostel's Wi-Fi is weak, but I could get 4G on my Maxis line. It's just a few minutes' walk to Larkin bus station, with Speedmart, mamak places, a dobi, and other convenience shops nearby.

After a 28-hour flight and then a 10-hour wait for a bus to Malaysia, I was wiped out. This was a nice, clean place with friendly staff and fast Wi-Fi. My private room cost 60 RM. I'll stay here again next time I visit.

The old town is worth visiting, which makes this stay a shame. My shoes went missing, the beds were uncomfortable, and noise from next door woke us between 3 and 6 am. Staff told us they couldn't do anything about it and seemed amused, too.
