Hotel JSL

My husband won’t book here again. We paid about S$42 a night, and for the room quality, staff, and location, I think it should cost only $20-$25. The first room smelled strongly of mould and dust. My husband was unhappy as soon as we walked in, so we asked to switch. The receptionist arranged another room quickly, and that one was much better, though its toilet constantly smelled of smoke, possibly from the exhaust pipe. It seemed previous guests had smoked there and the cleaning hadn’t dealt with it. As non-smokers, we found it really annoying every time we used the toilet. The receptionist also gave us poor information. When we asked about nearby food, she mentioned only the coffee shop at the back. I asked about Chill Day Cafe, which I’d seen on Google, and she said there was no cafe, only a coffee shop and pub. On checkout day, my husband spotted the cafe just a few houses away. There’s no fridge or locker in the room. At night, you can hear bass from the nearby club thumping against the wall, so it’s not a good choice if you want a quiet place to sleep. There also isn’t much around the hotel, so we had to take a taxi to Aeon mall or elsewhere for food.
