The Marion Hotel

The late checkout caused the biggest problem. We arranged it ahead of time, and reception confirmed we could stay until 4pm for an extra charge, which we accepted. Then at noon someone knocked rudely and told us to leave right away because another booking was at 2pm. That made no sense after the agreement, and I’ve never had hotel staff chase me out like that after confirming a late checkout. We only stayed one night at The Marion Hotel, and the whole experience felt unprofessional and disappointing. Check-in was unfriendly, with no warmth or hospitality. The bedsheets didn’t feel clean, and there were visible strands of hair on the bed. Toothbrushes were missing until we asked, and it turned out they’d simply been forgotten. The hallways had a strange smell too. Do better, Marion Hotel.

The receptionist was kind and very helpful, but the room was dirty and stinky. The bed looked as if someone had already used it. I also found a foul-smelling bag of trash full of insects under the sink, which seemed to have been there for at least 2-3 days. I don’t understand how the cleaning team missed that when they were meant to clean the room. The smell and lack of cleanliness led me to ask to cancel my reservation.

First stay and last one. The Chinese staff didn’t know how to use the air con or TV. Lots of things were missing, including a fridge and slippers. The chair was good, though. The toilet floor slopes unevenly, the washbasin was leaking, there were no big cups, and no lift. So many things were wrong, it was exhausting. Hopefully nobody books the wrong hotel.

It’s an OK budget hotel. The rooms are simple, clean, and reasonably comfortable, with a working bathroom and hot water. You’ll need to walk up to the first floor and pass through reception, which should be safe. There are plenty of hotpot places nearby, along with massage centres and other restaurants. Parking is the biggest problem.
