Marvelot Hotel

A loud machine or ventilation noise kept me from sleeping properly. I heard it around 11 PM, then again between 4 AM and 5 AM, and I recorded it as evidence. Noise from nearby rooms and loud music were also recurring problems, and the complaints I made weren’t handled professionally. There were issues from the start with check-in and whether a room was available, despite my having contacted the hotel beforehand. I also had trouble getting through the entrance because there were no clear instructions for new guests. Some reception staff seemed dismissive and unprofessional, especially the Indian women, though one male staff member was respectful and helpful. The poor sound insulation and ventilation added to an already disappointing stay. The customer service fell short of what I’d expect from hospitality. I’ve traveled to several countries and rarely been treated this way.

Other staff were kind and welcoming, but one staff member was rude when I asked for a bottle of water each day. She said they didn’t provide one daily. I wasn’t asking for extra water, just one bottle a day, and we were paying the full amount, including tax. I asked management to address this and protect the hotel’s reputation.

I keep coming back because the hotel is cheap and comfy. Check-in and checkout are available 24 hours, there’s a lift and a water heater, and the iron still didn’t iron properly even after I used it for an hour. They should replace it. The floor was sticky too.

The room was spacious, and the bed and bathroom were comfortable. I slept well, and the Wi-Fi was my favorite part, with a good 20 ms ping while playing PUBG. As a foreigner, I had to pay RM20 upfront, which was returned at checkout. They spoke kindly, smiled a lot, and gave me only the information I needed. This was my first stay, and I liked it enough to return.
