The bed in room 301 was itchy when I went to sleep, and it seemed like insects were living in it and biting whoever slept there. The sheets and blanket need a hot-water wash. That brought my rating down, even though the rest of my experience was very positive. The receptionist was friendly, and unlike some other guests, I had no check-in trouble. My room and towels were ready when I arrived at 2.30 p.m. The room was surprisingly spacious, and I liked the layout: the washbasin is on the same level as the room, while the toilet and shower on either side each require a step. Having the basin level with the room seems practical, especially for elderly people. I’ve stayed at many "Sun Inns" hotels, and I was pleasantly surprised that there were no cockroaches at all this time. The door, though, looked like it had been through a battle. The outside knob is almost torn out, and the latch is badly damaged, though it still works. Make sure to use the latch from inside, or the door won’t stay shut.

The aircon worked fine, but the place needs a thorough clean-up and paint job. The room’s cleanliness could be better, with stains on the comforter and very run-down paint. The TV also wasn’t working properly, and the location is a little dodgy. If you’re not picky about those things and only need somewhere to sleep and shower, it’s borderline alright. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who’s fussy about cleanliness or a germaphobe. The place is really run down.

We got there at 3:00pm to check in, but our room was still being cleaned and we were told it wouldn’t be ready until 4:30pm. They said they’d call when it was ready, but nobody did. We went back at 6:00pm after waiting, and still had to wait another 20 minutes. Staff showed no urgency, and no one apologized. The family room was booked for six and was supposed to have two bathrooms, but neither water heater worked. The TV remote was faulty, and swapping it didn’t help. The TV wouldn’t turn on, even manually. At checkout, we were only then told to return the towels to the receptionist, so we had to go back to the room and collect them. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, but the poor service, lack of communication, and broken facilities made the stay disappointing.
