I had to disinfect all my clothes, bags and even my vehicle afterward, at my own expense, to keep the infestation from spreading. I believe the property should cover those costs. I’d booked three days and two nights, but left in a hurry halfway through the first night after switching on the lights around midnight and seeing bed bugs crawling on the mattress, floor and furniture. Management offered to refund only the second night, saying the first had already been “used.” I strongly disagree. The room was uninhabitable from the start, and I only discovered the problem because I stayed there. Guests shouldn’t have to remain in a room crawling with pests to prove it’s unacceptable. A full refund for both nights, plus the added disinfection costs, seems fair to me. The contact number listed on this platform couldn’t be reached. The only working number was one I got at check-in, which makes me question whether the property’s listed details are accurate and whether it’s reliable as a host. The owner never appeared during the whole process. A front desk staff member handled every message. I later noticed the Wi-Fi name I received before check-in matched that of another nearby guesthouse starting with “Antz…”. The account used for my partial refund also seems linked to someone who publicly promoted that guesthouse on social media. If the properties share an owner, I find it more concerning that the person responsible didn’t address a legitimate complaint directly. There were other shortcomings that might matter to guests, even though they didn’t directly affect my stay: no chairs or hairdryer in the room, a shower head that wouldn’t stay in place, nearly sheer curtains that let streetlights flood the room at night, and air conditioning that wasn’t cold, with no remote to adjust it. To be fair, the front desk staff were polite and did their best to help. But a complaint like this shouldn’t be left for junior staff to manage. The owner is responsible. I’d strongly urge future guests to think twice before booking. This went beyond one uncomfortable night. It concerns basic hygiene, accountability and the duty of care owed to paying guests.
