OYO 89982 Familia motel

For a short stop, it's acceptable for the price. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep, and there's a TV in the room. You can hear people talking outside or in the next room, though. There are two shared bathrooms outside and one sink. An ironing board, prayer mat and prayer clothes are provided, with one toilet slipper per room. I assume the RM50 deposit is standard at places like this. Overall, okay.

The suite triple was excellent, spacious and comfortable, and the price was reasonable. The room was clean and parking was spacious. It's also well located near Hospital Tengku Fauziah Kangar, Hospital KPJ and places of interest in Kangar.

The whole experience was awful. I booked and paid through the A*oda app, which showed one queen bed and one single bed. When I arrived to check in, a rude receptionist, who looked like an older uncle, said my room had only one queen bed. I pointed out that I'd booked based on the photo, but he wouldn't let us check in. The owner wouldn't refund me and blamed the app. They also wouldn't upgrade us because that room type was sold out. We booked another hotel and had a pleasant stay there. This place looked old and dark. Think carefully before booking.

The good parts were the air conditioning, shower, Wi-Fi, parking and location, all of which were good. I tried calling to confirm whether the toilet was outside, as other reviews said, but the number went to OYO and nobody answered. When I checked in, my RM89-a-night room did have a shared toilet outside, used by the other ground-floor guests. The person next door was a woman, which made sharing a toilet awkward for both of us. I asked the counter staff to move me upstairs since he said those rooms had their own toilets. He said he could help if I'd booked directly with the hotel, but because I booked through OYO, he couldn't.
