Hotel O DarulSalam Orkid Inn Kerteh

There are two buildings facing each other. I stayed one night and didn’t ask about Wi-Fi since my mobile data was enough. There wasn’t a water machine in the room, but there’s a paid one outside, along with a dobi for laundry. A washing machine was also available in the room.

The deposit wasn’t returned until late at night, and I had to call to get it back. The owner knocked on every room looking for missing towels, then realized no towels had been put out. At 11:45am, while we were still using the toilet, the owner suddenly came into our room even though checkout was supposed to be at 12pm. The service needs improvement.

The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, and I felt safe and welcome. The owner is a ustaz. It’s an easy walk to the mart and restaurants, and not far from the beach and food spots. I went to Pantai Kuala Kerteh near McDonald's for sunrise, and it was beautiful. The beach was clean, though I wouldn’t recommend swimming there. For food, local dishes were great, while the western food I tried at three nearby cafes wasn’t good. For breakfast, I recommend Kafe Kak Yah Kerteh, especially the "Roti leleh". I came with my brother and would stay here again. The photos are of places I visited, not the Inn, since I felt there were already enough pictures showing the place’s real condition. 05 Sep 2023

The room was clean, with a spacious toilet, and the owner restocked coffee and tea daily. Soap and toothbrushes were provided, and parking was right outside the room. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There’s a hip cafe nearby, and the location is convenient, just a few minutes from the Petronas office and Mesra Mall. The mattress was a little old and may not suit someone with backache. Still, it’s a budget hotel, so you can’t expect a five star mattress.
