Cukai View Hotel

For a quick trip or just one night, this is a decent place. Food is easy to find, with a few shops behind the hotel. Most of them shut early, though, before 9pm.

The bed was comfortable, though I'm not sure it had been cleaned, as the last photo shows. The water and other appliances also could use cleaning, but that's easy enough to do. It's a quiet, convenient place near Chukai, with small but tidy rooms. For the price, I'd say it deserves 3 stars as a budget hotel. There's an iron and water filter outside the room. They provide body wash only, so bring your other toiletries. No electric kettle, but there is a thermos jug, a tea bag and a few sugar packets. Parking nearby is plentiful since the area isn't crowded. You can add days to your stay, but you'll need to go to the counter to renew or update your access card.

The air conditioning was so warm that I had to take several cold showers before bed. The room wasn't very clean either, and the Wi-Fi didn't work in my room. I asked to switch rooms on my second night, but they turned me down, saying it had to be done in the morning. Looking at reviews from a few years back, it seems the same issues have gone unaddressed. It feels like management has stopped caring for the place.

We couldn't check in because the front desk staff was asleep. We called the number and rang the bell several times, but nobody came out.
