My first stay was great, but the second and third were disappointing. I booked by phone for the upper cabin, then arrived to find staff saying our room was in the lower cabin instead. They said the upper room’s guest had extended their stay. Apparently, the chalet owner had been called directly, and the staff weren’t told that the room was booked. Please improve the service. Thank you.

A rare kind of place to stay around Kota Bharu. It’s dated, but offers a river view over Sungai Pengkalan Datu, rather than the beach attractions in nearby Bachok district.

The atmosphere gets a 9/10 from me, though there wasn’t much choice of food. I hope more shops open there. The boat ride is cheap, rm 5 for adults and rm3 for children.
