The Room @ Zishi Hostel

The staff were friendly, and the location is convenient. There was a water dispenser and the room had AC. That's about where the good points end. I stayed two nights in a standard double room because other hotels were full for Hari Raya. At RM 138/night, the holiday price felt unreasonable. The room was tiny and had only the bare minimum, with dim lighting, old facilities and poor soundproofing. The place felt like a cave or somewhere underground. Don't trust the photos. This was one of my most disappointing stays, and I wouldn't recommend it.

The bed and air conditioning worked fine, and the staff were very helpful with my luggage. But the toilet seat was filthy, and after climbing three flights of stairs I found the bathroom in very poor condition. The cleanliness rating gave me the wrong impression. I was in a rush to use it, so I had to clean it myself. I paid rm148 for the hostel room, and it wasn't worth it. A very poor experience.

Check-in and check-out are self-service. We were the only guests there that night, but that was fine, no issue. The room was just so-so, about what you'd expect for the price. It's right across from Pasar Siti Khadijah, a handy spot if you want to avoid traffic and the hassle of finding parking.

It's a decent budget option near tourist spots, right across from the morning market. Just keep in mind there's no lift, so you'll have to carry your luggage up the stairs.
