The balcony view over the city skyline was a lovely extra, and the apartment itself was clean, spacious, and comfortably furnished. The bed was especially comfortable, and the tasteful decor and modern amenities made it easy to settle in. Being inside 1 Borneo Hypermall made shopping, eating, and finding entertainment simple, while the city center was only a short drive away. Check-in was quick, and the staff were warm and helpful throughout, whether I needed towels or had questions about local attractions. I also made good use of the well-kept pool and the fitness center, which had a range of machines. The convenient location, facilities, and service made my stay at 1 Borneo Residency memorable. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a pleasant base in Kota Kinabalu.

The gym was disappointing, with quite a few machines out of order and not much choice in weights. The pool was pleasant enough, though its rules about what clothing was acceptable seemed odd. We spent three days here to recharge, and having the mall attached to the tower made that easy. We could go to the cinema, browse the shops, and choose from a huge range of restaurants. The flats vary depending on their owners and how they are maintained. We happened to get the penthouse, with beautiful views across the city and nearby hills.

The area around the tower is heavily littered, especially underneath the building. I hope steps are taken to protect the health of residents in both 1 Borneo Tower A and Tower B. As a university student looking for a residence, I think the place could suit both college and university students.

The pool doesn't open until 9 a.m., which feels quite late, and there's only one key even when several visitors are staying. The kitchen has utensils, though they look very old. I didn't mind that the three-bedroom apartment was old, but it really needed a better clean. The bathroom smelled moldy, had cockroaches, and its floor and walls looked as if they hadn't been scrubbed in ages. Even the wall clock had no battery.
