I stayed in a shared dorm on 29 Nov 2025 and 13 Dec 2025. The hostel is in the city centre, and the 24-hour reception and pleasant staff helped me feel safe and comfortable. The air-conditioned room was clean and comfortable, and the toilets were clean with hot showers. Wi-Fi works perfectly only in the reception and common area. It’s cheap and includes breakfast: eggs, fruit, bread and a few kinds of jam. The shared dorms have lockers, there’s a water dispenser on the ground floor, and coffee and tea are available all the time. There’s a busy street market below on weekends. If you want peace and quiet, this hostel is certainly a good choice. It’s an inexpensive, good place to stay in Kota Kinabalu, and I’ll come back.

The reception and housekeeping staff are really friendly. It’s an easy walk to good food spots, malls and the waterfront. I was there in low season, so I enjoyed a slow morning with the free breakfast, toast, eggs and ramen, then relaxed in the community space. There weren’t many other guests, though, so it wasn’t very sociable. The rooms are basic and a little dark, but the power, fan and air conditioning all worked fine.

The common room was a great place to hang out and eat, and there’s a washing machine you can use for free. Everything was comfortable, clean and nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. I’m 63 and it suited me really well, with a great vibe. I’d definitely recommend it and stay again.

I checked into the dorm rooms on 29/03/2026 and was surprised by how clean and comfortable they were. At RM35.00 per person, it was also really affordable and convenient if you’re attending events at Padang Merdeka. I’d strongly recommend staying here again in the future.

We slept well here and had a simple but good breakfast. The common area was nice, and the staff were great. When we went to Brunei and came back, they kept our bags and did a great job arranging an early morning airport transfer. It’s right on Gaya Street, which is a fantastic location, but a city-view room gets noise late into the night as people take down market stalls, then the Sunday market starts setting up very early.
