Casuarina Hotel

The balcony was a highlight, and the price is cheap enough that I’d stay here again. We picked the hotel for its closeness to the beach and free on-site parking. It was basic but okay, though I wish we’d been on a higher floor. The beds were a bit dirty, probably from being worn out, and could use an update. The pillows were just okay, not fluffy. There was no iron or board, no fridge, and the room phone didn’t work. Still, nothing else was really bad about our stay.

The room was nice and the pillows cozy, and First Beach is close by for some boleh healing2. I think adding a bidet to the toilet would make it perfect. The service was a bit hmmm, though. I asked the receptionist for an ironing board, and she just kept playing with her phone and said, “Oh, the housekeeping not yet arrived.” zzz.

For this price, it’s very good. The basics are there, the toilet air conditioning is acceptable, and I loved that the shower had properly hot water. The TV just didn’t have much to choose from.

Being able to walk to Tanjung Aru beach and enjoy the sunset without driving was the best part. There aren’t any convenience stores nearby, though. It’s a quiet, run-down kind of hotel, with little to offer. I couldn’t even get ice cubes when I asked. There’s no fridge, just shower soap rather than gel, no washing hose, and the bed was noisy. The price is good, and it could be a great option for a one-night stay to enjoy the facilities around Tanjung Aru.
