Horizon Hotel

My family really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were quiet, cool, clean, and nice, and the location is very strategic. Breakfast was great, though the food selection was limited. The staff were very nice, and the front desk upgraded both of my rooms from city view to sea view. One person looking after the pool and gym came across as rude and arrogant. On 31Dec I asked at the counter what time the gym opened and got no response. On 02Dec I checked out the gym facilities and said “thank you,” but again got no response. I would have expected him to greet me and acknowledge my thanks. Is this person suited to service work?

I had a disrespectful encounter with a female room service staff member in a white polo shirt, who appeared masculine. I was carrying some rubbish out of my room and politely asked where I could throw it. I didn’t mind disposing of it myself, but expected a courteous reply. Instead, without looking at us, she pointed at the room service cart and said “sana” in a dismissive tone. It felt as if she was speaking to a subordinate rather than a guest. That kind of conduct felt unprofessional. Guests should receive basic courtesy and respect, and I hope management addresses this and makes sure staff treat people with professionalism and hospitality.

The sea-facing view from our room was exceptional. The rooms themselves are excellent too, but the location is the real highlight, with the main hotspots easy to reach on foot. Breakfast has plenty of options and does the job. A few imperfections keep the facilities from feeling like a 5-star hotel, though they come close.

I still miss the place. I spent five days there on my own and felt safe and comfortable the whole time. On my birthday, they surprised me by sending a “Happy birthday” cake to my room, which was really sweet. My room was spacious and cozy, and had a homey feel. The staff were kind and helpful with all my questions, always answering with a smile. Breakfast was very good, with loads of tasty choices. I’d love to return.
