X-Plorer Backpackers - Hostel

The decor is plain, as you’d expect for this kind of place, but everything was clean and the air conditioning worked. It’s right among the city landmarks, and the staff were friendly. Good value for the money, and I’d recommend staying here.

Being right beside the Sunday market means you’ll hear the commotion early, so it’s not a good fit if you want to sleep in. The central location costs 15 a night, but the place felt unhygienic. You get a bed, pillow, blanket and towel, though the bathroom was unacceptable: the shower wouldn’t drain, the toilet wouldn’t flush fully, and there wasn’t any toilet paper.

I only planned to stay because my flight was delayed, but Xplorer backpackers made an already bad day worse. I was left standing outside the entrance with all three of my suitcases and nobody was there. After I finally managed to reach someone on the team, they sent me to a nameless lodge. Terrible service. Even a budget place should meet basic standards, so please maintain it.

There are plenty of coffee shops and banks nearby, since xplorer backpackers is right in town. I met the owner, and the staff were friendly too.
