Mercure Kota Kinabalu City Centre

Florence, the manager, was supportive and moved us to a different room. That one was clean, and the staff were friendly and easy to talk to. We were in town for my mom's birthday, though, and the initial room left me feeling bad, like the trip had been ruined. We'd prepaid for 4 consecutive nights without seeing the place in person. Our standard room was tiny, had broken bathroom tiles, and there was a smell in the hallway. The window couldn't open and looked onto a very old building, so for a moment I thought I'd booked a very cheap motel. I don't think it was value for money. Across the road, you could get 3 bedroom with water view for less rm150, and it's new open, so I assume it has new facilities.

The rooftop pool was the best part of our stay, with clean water and stunning sunset views that made the evenings memorable. We found the location handy too, just a short walk from the shopping mall, night market and jetty. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt relaxed and comfortable. My family and I had a fantastic time at this 4-star hotel. We'd definitely return for the view and convenience.

During a business trip in mid-May, I stayed at Mercure Hotel in KK Town. It was easy to get a ride from there, and the hotel is right in town near shopping centers and shop lots. My room was comfortable and pleasant, and the staff gave good service. A convenient and enjoyable stay.

The waterfront location made it pleasant for staying and seeing the area, and the room had a modern design with a gorgeous view. The pool and gym were decent, and breakfast had a good range of choices. A bathmat would have helped with the water on the floor instead of having to use one of the towels. They could also explain gym access more clearly at check-in.
