OYO 777 Epal Hotel

My wife and I arrived from Sarawak on 04.04.2023 to check in, and were told at reception that the booking hadn’t been paid to the hotel and that it was no longer owned by OYO. My in-laws were due to arrive at 10pm too, so we were left wondering what to do. After all that, they couldn’t refund us or direct us to another hotel. I wouldn’t have left a bad review if they had at least told us our booking was cancelled. This shouldn’t happen to a customer who has paid. We won’t choose OYO again.

A decent hotel for the price. The shower drain was badly clogged, and the AC remote stopped working. My window faced their drying area and sat behind the big sign, which flashes at night and can be irritating.

There’s plenty of parking, but you need to get a coupon. We got fined by DBKK because of that, and it pushed the total cost close to what another hotel with parking facilities and a lift would have cost. I was trying to save money, so that was frustrating. The hotel has three floors and no lift. I asked for the first floor but got the third, and had to carry our heavy luggage up from the car in two or three trips. There was a big stain on the bedsheet at check-in, and no kettle in the room, so you have to go down to the ground floor for hot water. They could put a water heater on the second floor. The aircon remote they handed over at check-in didn’t work, so we couldn’t adjust the temperature. It was quite hot in the evening and we just had to put up with it. This is my first and last stay here, especially with an infant or toddler. Maybe it’s okay for a solo traveller.

The room was a decent size and the staff were friendly. I was on the third floor, and the aircon took a while to cool the room. There’s no lift, and the water heater was broken.
