The Bunk - Hostel

Several beds had bed bugs, and staff said this had happened more than once before. They apparently shut the place for 1-3 days and reopen, but that hadn't fixed it. Two other girls and I had to move to another hostel that night. When I came back the next day to sort out my laundry with the manager, he was unhelpful and seemed unconcerned about the infestation. The other staff were really friendly, and the location is good, but please don't stay here. There's a very high chance of getting bitten, and the manager won't do anything about it. It's not worth it when there are plenty of better, cleaner places nearby for the same price.

The staff really made my stay. They were welcoming, helpful, and great to deal with. There's a little balcony at the back where you can relax or dry clothes, and each bed has a curtain. Breakfast is simple, with tasty local coffee. And if there were bed bugs, they seem to have left successfully. Great place to stay while visiting KK. Thank you!

The dorm was spacious, and the curtains around each bed gave me a sense of having my own little space. The place was nice and clean as shown in the booking photos, and the staff were kind and willing to help. I left before breakfast was due, but they let me grab some anyway. They warned me the WiFi might be slow, though it was enough for me. The price was great, and the common area felt open and welcoming for people to rest. A few things could've gone better. The shower heaters weren't working, and no one mentioned that at check-in. They forgot to give me a blanket, so I had to ask, and I wasn't sure whether it was included. Towels cost 3 ringgit per night. I wasn't offered a key for the lockers. On Sunday, a concert outside was loud enough to hear from my bed even with earplugs while I was trying to sleep, but it ended around midnight and then I couldn't hear it anymore. All in all, my stay was okay.

The kitchen is basically a small sink area at the back, and it was disgusting even though three staff members were around to clean. In the morning, all three bathrooms were out of toilet paper. When we asked, a staff member said there wasn't any and pointed us to the upstairs bathroom. After we said that one was empty too, she found some to give us. Both showers smelled like sewer, had no hot water or pressure, and didn't have hooks. One had water leaking from the seams of the heater near the electrical parts. When my boyfriend asked a worker about it, the air conditioner being worked on sparked. The AC only runs from 5pm to 9am, and it stays pretty hot until about 11pm. Maybe that's why they only give each bunk half a blanket. Around 1:30 to 3:30 am, ten guys were drinking and scream-laughing in the median across the road. That's not really the hostel's fault, but it was loud enough to cut through the paper-thin walls. The worst hostel I've stayed at. It costs 20rm per bed, spend your money somewhere else.
