The front desk charged me an extra RM20 tourism tax and a RM100 deposit when I checked in for my two-night Agoda booking. I said the taxes were already included, but the staff member didn’t believe me. The next morning I showed another staff member my booking confirmation, and she still wouldn’t accept it until I contacted Agoda and proved the tax had been paid. Only then did she return the RM20, without an apology. The staff were extremely unprofessional and didn’t seem to understand that Agoda bookings include the fees. Be careful at check-in, as you could be charged an unnecessary RM20. The rooms were old, and breakfast wasn’t as good as at other hotels. The swimming pool also looked old and unappealing, while the gym had very little equipment and what was there was old.

Finding a seat at the buffet was a mess. There was no proper queue at the counter and nobody helping people to a table. Guests had to hunt for an empty spot, while staff kept telling arrivals that the tables were full. People who came later sometimes got seated because they searched around, even as earlier guests waited. For a four-star hotel, the service should be better. Eating there felt like being at a mamak stall. Thumbs down, bad, bad, bad.

We booked at 2pm on the day and checked in at 2:50, so it was last minute, but the stay went well. Staff carried our bags from the lobby to the room, and we were lucky to get one of the four or five free spaces reserved for hotel guests near the lobby. We had a Superior King Room. It was clean and spacious, with a smart TV, bathtub and all the usual things: toiletries, indoor slippers, iron, hairdryer, writing desk, laundry bag and plenty more. We asked for a baby cot and got it free. I loved the bed, so comfy my back felt straight. Haha. Breakfast was okay. I expected nasi lemak, and the beef rendang was a bit salty. We didn’t check the swimming pools because my son was happy splashing in the bathtub. This was my second stay, and I’ll come again to check out the pool.

The room was spacious, cold with the air conditioning, and had a great view and basic amenities. We enjoyed a movie night on the large screen in the comfortable room. I’d still recommend the hotel, even though it wasn’t perfect. It connects to the mall, so you can shop or get food there, but holidays get very crowded and parking is extremely limited. Come by Grab or be prepared to pay for parking if you don’t mind the cost. We arrived for a Deepavali staycation with a friend and checked in around 8:30pm. Guest parking was scarce, so we followed the hotel security’s suggestion and used 1B basement parking. Thanks for the help. The overnight fee was RM15++. Check-in went smoothly, but remember there’s a refundable RM100 deposit. We’d asked for a bathtub, a higher floor and Netflix. Maybe because we arrived late, there was no bathtub room left. We did get a higher floor and a TV with Netflix, but the hotel Wi-Fi had no internet, so we used our own hotspot. We went down for breakfast at 8am, within the 6:30 to 10am serving hours. It was crowded and seats were hard to find. The food was okay, but I hope they add more main-course options. I liked the pastries, though we had to wait for a refill.

My room had a nice view, and it was spacious and clean. The hotel is next to 1Borneo mall and about ten minutes from UMS. It came with the usual amenities, including a praying mat, iron and hair dryer. I also liked the bathtub’s small step, handhold and slip mat. A thoughtful setup to help prevent falls. Breakfast could improve, for example by adding some real protein to the noodles.
