Victoria Hotel and Hostel

The water situation was a problem, the AC wasn't cool enough, and the service from the owner was poor. The manager told a staff member over the phone, right in front of me, to always give Agoda customers the worst room. On top of that, the manager asked guests to bring their own towels downstairs. With the manager's attitude and the terrible customer service, they don't seem to appreciate guests at all. I strongly recommend removing this hotel from the apps. It doesn't deserve even one star.

Hotel Victoria became a place that felt like home each time we returned from trips around the island. We'd only planned to stay our first night in Borneo, but liked it so much that we booked several more nights as we went back and forth from Kota Kinabalu. I'd gladly book Hotel Victoria again if I return to Borneo. It's a basic hotel at a very affordable rate, and breakfast is included. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the whole place was clean and air conditioned, which is a must in Borneo. Its fairly central spot puts restaurants, markets and the shopping mall within easy walking distance. There's a small market outside in the evening, plus a much larger one about five minutes away on Sunday morning.

The location is convenient and easy to get to, and Grab and taxis arrive quickly without any hassle. We had a good stay, with clean rooms and a nice breakfast. Thanks to "Ate Robina" and the rest of the staff for the good accommodation. Highly recommended.

Even though we got to the hotel close to midnight, our host Anna was there to greet us. The room was in perfect condition, with a tidy toilet inside the room, and having a 7eleven nearby was handy. I'd highly recommend it.
