Adamson Hotel Kuala Lumpur

The room on the 12th floor had a KL view, and it was clean and didn't smell. That's why I initially gave the hotel five stars. It was better than Kingston2 hotel, where we'd been misled about having a window and got a windowless room that smelled strongly of tobacco. We cancelled there out of desperation and booked this place. But after the problems here, I changed my rating. The Wi-Fi wasn't working at first. I asked them to fix it, but reception said the maintenance person had gone home and nothing could be done. Fortunately, we had phone internet we could share with our PC. By morning the Wi-Fi was working again, so I think a router reset was all it needed, but the evening clerk wouldn't do it. Then, around 1:00 in the morning, a loud bang woke me up, probably from the roof. Street noise from motorcycles and cars kept me awake too, at first until 3:30 and then still at 4:30. The window was faulty and wouldn't shut properly, with gaps letting the traffic noise in. I went down to bother the night clerk at 3:00am and showed him a photo of the damaged window and explained the noise. He said there hadn't been complaints before, but the damage looked like it had been there for months or years, not something that happened overnight. The noise problem and poor maintenance brought my rating down from five stars to one. It's a shame they don't seem to have learned from the comments here. My background is in building maintenance, and this points to a serious failure in maintenance and management. They need daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly maintenance checklists, and should inspect rooms every day so problems can be spotted promptly. The place itself is nice, but the people running it need to improve their management.
