Akar Hotel Jalan TAR

For RM180, I got twin queen-size beds, which was okay for me. There’s no reserved parking, though you can find public parking around the area. Jalan Tar and Sogo are easy to walk to, and check-in was simple. The cleanliness was really poor, with cockroaches here and there and damp walls. Toiletries were good, and there was a bottle of water, coffee, and a mini fridge. The Wi-Fi kept connecting and dropping out, haha. For a budget price, it’s manageable, and there’s a restaurant downstairs.

We stayed one night with my family. At first the room seemed normal, but then I noticed so many tiny cockroaches. The bathroom wasn’t very clean either, and the receptionist’s service wasn’t as good as expected. It was a bad stay. If you see this, please do better and deep clean the place to get rid of the cockroaches.

For the price, the rooms weren’t satisfying. The hotel needs a lot of refurbishment if it wants to serve its customers well.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and our double queen-bed room had enough room for two or three people to pray comfortably. But there were cockroaches, mostly scurrying around the bathroom floor. That was unacceptable. If they’d been flying around, I would have left and asked for a refund. Instead, we only used the place to sleep after shopping. The shopping district is a short walk away, and the hotel works better for people using public transport. There’s no parking, and stopping on the main road to drop passengers off isn’t allowed, so we had to circle around and use the side road. The wheelchair ramps are there, but you’d have to park on the pavement to unload a passenger. Paid parking is quite far away. The iron and ironing board were in the hallway. Everything else was fine.
