The room was really nice, and it’s near KK, which is handy. You can hear people talking a bit because the soundproofing isn’t enough. The sink water was slow, though the shower and toilet had strong water flow. Not sure if it was only my sink. Bring your own toiletries.

We had to spend all three days and two nights in a room with a strong cigarette smell and lots of cockroaches. By the end, all our clothes smelled like cigarettes. The air conditioning was also very slow. This wasn’t acceptable. The room smelled of smoke at check-in, and my friend told the receptionist and staff. They said there was no empty room to move us to and did nothing to remove the smell. When I arrived, it was still strong, so I asked to change rooms. They said they would have changed it if we’d told them earlier, even though my friend had already reported it at check-in. They said housekeeping would come the next morning. They did come and tried to get rid of the smell, but it was still there when I returned. De Element hotel, please take customer complaints seriously. Looking after these basic things is part of running a business.

We ended up at De Elements after arriving around 1am on a last-minute plan and not finding another nearby hotel. The rate was fairly standard, about RM145 a night. The room was okay, but the air conditioner stayed a bit warm all night, and the toilet could have been cleaner. It works for a short stay or an emergency check-in, though there’s room to improve.

There’s a mamak restaurant downstairs, which is really convenient, and the air conditioning is cold enough. The place feels comfortable, though the room is a little small. The bathroom had small cockroaches, and there’s no hair dryer. The sink has only cold water, with low pressure, and the window doesn’t close properly.
