The male manager came into the female-only room without knocking while I was resting. He pulled my curtain back when I wasn't wearing my hijab, and I was shocked and uncomfortable. When I politely asked him to knock next time and respect that it was a women's room, he started shouting, insulting and threatening me, pointing at my face as if I had done something wrong. He demanded my passport and said I had to pay him to leave. I felt scared, humiliated and unsafe, and couldn't wait to get out. No guest should be treated like that, and women should be able to feel safe in accommodation. This was one of my worst hostel experiences, and I can't recommend it, especially to women travelling alone.

There was the usual hostel soundtrack of people coming and going and snoring at night 🤭, but I was surprised by how safe it felt. A few times I left my bag with my laptop on the bed or in the common area while I rushed to the toilet, and it was still there when I got back. My 18-bed bunk was clean, with no bed bugs or odd smell like some people claimed. It was a mixed crowd, mostly men. You can refill water, and the men's toilet has a bidet and hot water. Mr Muhammad, the local Malaysian in charge, was friendly, attentive and helpful with my requests. He also found ways to deal with some difficult situations other guests raised. I stayed three nights, from 16 Aug till 19 Aug 2025. Compared with other hostels I've tried, this one was much better. It's still a hostel, so if you're used to that kind of place, you may enjoy it after a few days.

The room and shower were dirty. Worse, the host came into my room at 3:00 in the morning and offered me money. I didn't feel safe, so I left the hostel at 3:30 a.m.

Sleep was a struggle here. The cleaner came in every day at 4 AM, switched on all the lights and made a lot of noise. When I tried to raise it, he was rude and careless. Other guests were noisy too, playing reels without headphones, talking at midnight and making video calls half-dressed. There was no dorm etiquette. The bathrooms were filthy, with dirty floors, toilets and basins, and a bad smell all day. With more than 50 dorms and only three bathrooms, there were queues for showers and toilets. I also had bedbug bites all over and had to take medicine after staying here. On my second day, the AC broke. One local Malaysian Tamil staff member was kind and tried to help, but the others ignored it and didn't provide a fan. In Kuala Lumpur's heat, that was unbearable. You may save a little money, but I lost sleep, comfort and health. This wasn't worth even one night. I came to rest and felt like I saw hell.
