Somerset Kuala Lumpur

The staff were the best part of our couple of weeks here. They were professional, friendly and genuinely kind, and we managed to communicate pleasantly even when their English wasn't perfect. The pool was clean and decent, though at 1.2m deep it seems better for kids or a casual dip. I wasn't comfortable drinking from the hallway filters because their indicator lights were orange, not green. Maybe the water was still safe, but it didn't inspire confidence. The building itself needs a serious upgrade. It feels more like serviced apartments than a four-star hotel. The windows provided no sound insulation, and between midnight and around 5am there were constant fireworks and loud motorbikes, typical mat rempit activity. The noise and vibrations felt like sleeping beside a highway, so proper rest was impossible. Air conditioning was hard to set for sleep too: 24°C felt too cold, while 25°C was too warm. Breakfast was a disappointment. A few small pastries and artificial juices felt like a basic school snack, and compared with other places in Malaysia it fell far below expectations for a supposed four-star property. Depending on the price it might be acceptable, but if you want quiet and restful sleep, especially in a unit facing Jalan Ampang, I wouldn't choose it.

I've been back several times and always enjoy staying here. The rooms are really spacious, and having a bathtub in the toilet is something I love. The kitchen's washing machine is so convenient, the service is satisfying, and the location suits me. Definitely recommend it!

Getting around Kuala Lumpur was easy from here, with different parts of the area only about 10 to 15 minutes away. We also had a very comfortable 3-bedroom unit that worked especially well for our big family. There was enough space for everyone to rest and still spend good time together. The room was comfortable, and the team were welcoming, attentive and professional. Everything about the stay felt pleasant and smooth.

The room has a kitchen, washing machine, dining area and living room, which made it really nice for a family or a longer stay. I was here for 10 days. It's in a strategic spot, about a 10-minute walk to KLCC and right next to Alty Hospital.
