St. Giles Gardens Residences Kuala Lumpur

The apartment setup gave us plenty of room to relax, with a separate kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom. It was clean and well looked after, and much more spacious than a typical hotel room. Being right above a shopping mall made things so convenient. Restaurants, shops and everyday essentials were just an elevator ride away. The staff I met were all friendly, welcoming and helpful, which added a lot to the stay. I’d definitely consider coming back for the comfort, space and easy location.

I’d happily return for the location alone. The Gardens Residences is just a few sheltered steps from The Gardens Mall (GM) and Mid Valley Mall (MVM), inside their huge complex, with loads of food choices. Some memorable meals were at Village Duck and The Han Room for timsum, both non-halal, and I liked being able to adjust the sugar in the teh tarik at Bungkus Kaw Kaw. Din Tai Fung MVM, though, was overpriced and substandard. I stayed for a week in Feb. 2026 in a roughly 1,200 sq ft, three-bedroom apartment with two separate bathrooms. I was assigned one of the senior or less physically able room types, which has a useful bathroom for those guests but more basic decor and furniture than the “normal” apartment. No one explained the room type at check-in, and I would have appreciated that. There are two types of three-bedroom apartments. A bigger problem was the reception service. They didn’t tell me at check-in that the room-specific WiFi didn’t work, so I spent an hour trying before calling and finding out I could only use the general WiFi. When I phoned with questions, the tone was often condescending and unprofessional. One young man spoke so fast it sounded like he wanted to hang up, and once he did. I extended by one night and paid for it, but in the morning my access card stopped working. Reception then told me they hadn’t charged me for the earlier nights and had cancelled my card, though they’d never informed me. A note or call would have been enough. It was very unprofessional to leave me to discover it at the door. The living room AC wasn’t working. Reception patronisingly suggested I hadn’t closed the sliding glass doors tightly enough. I told them I wasn’t that stupid. A young man from Maintenance spent half an hour fixing it because there was more than one issue. He was pleasant, smiling and professional. Sorry, I can’t remember his name, but he deserves a shout-out. I thought the washer and dryer would be inside the apartment, but they were in the stairwell area with no instructions. One washer was broken, though the other worked. Grab drivers can also get confused by the St Giles Boulevard Hotel, St Giles Mid Valley Hotel and St Giles Hotel Residences, whose entrances are one after another along the same short side street. Make sure to emphasize RESIDENCES to GRAB drivers.

The lounge has an amazing view, and I’ll come back to stay. Everyone from the main entrance to the lobby and lifts was friendly and helpful, especially Pravin and the Wau lounge team. My laundry press was charged by mistake even though it was included with my room. They corrected it and let me know within minutes.

The Club Lounge was disappointing, with only biscuits and coffee for refreshments. It was noisy and untidy, guests were sleeping on the couches, and children were running around. At Friday’s busy check-in peak around 3:10pm, there was only one receptionist working. We stayed on the 15th floor facing the pool and could hear prayers from the nearby mosque. The rooms were spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and memory foam pillows. The kitchen was usable and had filtered water.
