The location works well, with a small mall downstairs that has most of what you’d need for food, drinks, and a bit of shopping. I used valet parking, so I can’t comment on the hotel’s main parking. I stayed in a Premium Room with half board, which included hi-tea and supper along with breakfast. I tried the hi-tea and found it OK. I missed supper, though I understood it was a small buffet. The room had supposedly been refurbished, but the toilet still looked tired, with old stains. It wasn’t exactly dirty, just worn. The lighting was so dim that it felt like a hotel from the 1990s. A few more LED downlights and a separate switch for brighter lighting would help, especially for anyone trying to read or work. Breakfast looked like there would be a lot of choice, but the selection was limited, and plenty of items were empty or slow to be replenished. The coffee came from a dispenser like the ones at a Majlis Meeting / Kenduri, rather than a proper coffee machine. If you want a proper morning coffee, you’ll need to go down to the mall. Service needs work too. I arrived around 2.30pm and understood that the room wasn’t ready yet, but check-in was at 3.00pm and I didn’t get the room until 3.15pm. They also asked for a deposit or credit card pre-authorization, which I don’t remember having to do at a proper hotel before. I usually associate that with 2-3 star hotels. Would I stay again? Only if I needed the convenience of being around Old Klang Road.

There are food places all around, so it’s easy to find something to eat pretty much any time. They’ve rebranded and renovated some rooms, which is nice, though daytime traffic can get heavy. The AC also got warm a few times and could use some work. Still, it’s a nice spot for a one-time visit.

The hotel is handy for concert-goers, and with a mall below and coffee shops nearby, you don’t need to head into the city centre. Room 1336 was great, but there were clumps of loose hair all over the carpet under the bed. That was the only downside. If the vacuum can’t pick it up, they should try a lint roller or use one that works properly on carpet.

Ms. Fei Shan was thoughtful and dedicated while helping arrange things with The Pearl. She responded quickly, paid attention to what we needed, and clearly put in a lot of effort. I really appreciated her professional service and would recommend her.
