The room had hairs and stains on the bedsheet, and the TV, water heater, and kettle weren’t working. I’d rate the stay 1 out of 5. The bigger issue was the price. The rate shown in the OYO system wasn’t the same as the amount they asked for at check-in. Even with discounts shown online, staff said there was an extra charge because the on-site rate was fixed. A notice at the counter said guests had to pay that fixed price or cancel the booking. I forgot to photograph it, but it said the fixed rate applied to all rooms. Why promote the guesthouse through OYO if the price is fixed? People are bound to be drawn in by the lower rate. If you pay online when booking, you may only learn about the extra charge when you arrive. By then, the cancellation deadline, one day before check-in, has passed. Cancel anyway and you won’t get your money back. So you have to pay more to stay, and might not be able to find another hotel. That feels like customer exploitation.
