The hotel is an easy walk from the jetty, and we had a good stay overall. We were lucky to get a room with a balcony, and the room was comfortable. The staff were helpful and the breakfast buffet was great. The place is a bit run down, though, and the pool was somewhat dirty. We chose Tekoma because of the pool, since our five-year-old loves swimming. We spent four nights there, hiking in the park, taking a boat tour, and swimming in the side river and rapids. We drove from KL and stopped at Batu Caves and Kuala Gandah national elephant sanctuary on the way to Kuala Tahan.

The food was the highlight for me. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were excellent, with both buffet and set meal options. There’s also a swimming pool and a snooker table. We came as part of a booked tour and stayed in the budget hostel. The simple room had Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a water heater, and power sockets right by the bed, which made charging a phone easy.

The cats wandering around and playing with us were an extra treat. The management was friendly and even handed out fireworks to us and the other kids for New Year’s. Our room was clean and spacious, and the food was fresh and plentiful. The hotel was a pleasant walk from nearby activities. 10/10, I’d come again :3

The free breakfast was fabulous and added a lot of value, and the people were really friendly. There’s pool access too. It isn’t right by the river, and the dorms were okay, neither the best nor the worst.

The air conditioning was new and worked well, and we liked having a swimming pool, though it needs some renovation. The chairs were old and some tiles were missing. Those were about the only positives from our two-night half-board stay. The included dinners were served as plated meals, not a buffet. We sat at the back of the kitchen among a lot of junk. Meat and vegetables came first, then we waited 15 minutes for rice and plates and utensils. By then everything was cold, and one meat dish was dry and overcooked. We were disappointed and went out for dinner the second night. Breakfast was crowded and poorly maintained, with dishes missing for long periods. The food was tasteless, except for the fresh omelet, and the coffee had no flavor. Our room was in the main building below the lobby and dining room. The corridor had more bugs than seemed usual for the region. The room smelled musty and damp, like wet clothes and mold, and there were patches of mold on the walls. We wondered if the air freshener was there to cover the smell. The room looked dated and worn, with marks and scuffs on the furniture and some pieces missing. Its only window had a dirty curtain that looked older than I am. The bathroom was worn too, with a new water heater fitted beside the old showerhead, and the room wasn’t clean. This so-called resort is far from the riverbank, making the walk to the park, restaurants, and shops longer than from other hotels. I’d avoid it. There are better places to stay for less money, and I can’t understand its high average score on review sites.
