The owner made the biggest impression on me during my trip in Malaysia. You can trust him and book tours through him; just let him know when you arrive. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and worked well. Keep in mind you're here for the rainforest, so don't expect a spa, and there are big insects outside, though not in the dorms. This was my best experience in Malaysia. Definitely recommend it, and I hope to come back someday.

A really easygoing host, and everything I needed for a reasonable price: a shower, a decent rest, and somewhere to charge up. The hostel has a long history in TN, and it's basic but clean, with good AC for humid days. After a tiring hike, the jetty is easy to reach, and the floating restaurants and small town are walkable. The walls are thin wood, so you can hear things at night. Some rooms are twins, some are bunks with a clean shared bathroom, and there are double rooms on the other side. With that heat, you don't need a hot shower.

My one-night stay at Liana Hostel worked well for a low budget trip, especially since accommodation in Taman Negara can be pricey. The rooms are basic, but the AC and fan worked well, and the bathroom was clean with toilet paper provided. If it's not busy season, it may be better to walk in than book online. The hostel keeper was especially accommodating. Since the room was available, he let me check in at 9 AM the day before, so I could leave my backpack there before my one-day trek. He also let me check out late while I waited for my bus. We arranged both ahead of time.

You get the essentials for what you pay. Our room had both a fan and air-conditioning, which we really needed. It was a slow period in town and at the hostel, with high season ending early in October, but the owner and staff made sure we had what we needed. Let them know your ETA when you're on your way.

The owners and staff were so kind and helpful. We were put in an empty dorm with just the two of us, even though we'd booked a four-person room. The place is very cheap and well worth the price, with a great location and lovely views from the terrace and some rooms. There was no AC, but there was a ceiling fan, and the wifi worked really well. Highly recommend for anyone looking for cheap accommodation.
