Arenaa Batik Boutique Hotel

It's right in the middle of Kuantan town, a perfect place to rest, but quite a few things need fixing. The kettle, TV, plug, light and telephone cable should be changed, and some spots need repainting. The staff weren't very helpful either. I hope things are sorted out by the time I stay again.

The room felt neglected from the start. The lighting was so dim I could barely see, and there was no bedside lamp. The toilet exhaust fan didn't work, so the bathroom felt stuffy and unpleasant. I complained more than once, but nothing was fixed, and they seemed not to care. The shower drained so slowly that rinsing took ages and the bathroom flooded. It was like standing in stagnant water. The fridge was oddly set on a wobbly coffee table, and there were no toiletries. I had to ask the rude front desk staff for even the basics. Housekeeping was terrible. The room was filthy, with dust on the walls and furniture, dirt on the floor, and piles of dust beside the bed and under the tables. There were cobwebs in the corners and around the furniture. It was clear the place wasn't being deep cleaned. The furniture was ancient and falling apart, some pieces looked as if they could collapse at any moment. Stained walls with random repainting made the room look shabby. The service was pathetic. The front desk staff were rude and unprofessional, and didn't care about guests' concerns. I've stayed in many hotels, but this was by far my worst experience. This place is an embarrassment to hospitality. I strongly urge the authorities to take severe action over its hygiene, maintenance and customer service. Avoid it unless you want a filthy, poorly managed hotel with furniture crumbling around you.

This was the worst hotel I've stayed in. I checked in close to midnight with my family, and the front desk was extremely rude, acting like a gangster. I had booked one type of room but was given another. When I asked about it, he said, “You want the room or not?” He was so arrogant. I kept quiet because I was with my family, but if I had been alone, it might have turned into a fight. The amenities, cleanliness and service were all terrible. I'd give it minus five stars, but the site won't let me post unless I choose one.

The location is good, right in town, and it's easy to park on the roadside, since the hotel has very few spaces. Be careful if you drive, though. I got a parking ticket when I returned to my car before 9am the next morning. The room looked old and poorly maintained, with a bit of mold and not enough light. The amenities included a small electric kettle, coffee and tea bags, towels, shower gel and shampoo, but the towels smelled and there was no hot water for a shower. For the price and room experience, it was reluctantly acceptable.
