There were no toiletries, tea or coffee, or bottled water, but that wasn’t a big deal to me. The room itself was dirty, though. It was dusty throughout, and there was an unwiped stain on the console table, so I don’t think it had been cleaned properly. The towels were tattered. I know it’s a budget hotel, but bedsheets, towels, and pillows should at least be clean and in good condition.

The hotel hadn’t updated its Waze location, so it sent us to the old renovated place. We called the number over and over, but nobody answered. In the end we had to sleep at my aunt’s house, and we never got our money back. My RM200 was just gone. The booking site also refused to refund it, blaming the hotel, while the hotel said it hadn’t received the money. Is this some kind of scam?

The beds were comfortable and clean, but the bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. There was hair along the sides and dirt and what looked like urine stains in the toilet bowls. The tables had sticky coffee spills, which got on my wallet and phone when I left them there. In the morning, the housekeeping maid opened the door and banged it twice. I had to wake up just to check out at 9am. They should come in at or after checkout, or let guests know before cleaning. Owners should remember that manners and politeness matter in hospitality, whether the hotel is small or large, budget or premium. Customers pay to stay and expect a certain level of service.

I used Google Maps to look for the hotel, but it sent me somewhere else. I stayed one night while doing a bit of work in Kuantan, and everything else was good. Since I’m very particular about cleanliness, I’d suggest keeping the bedsheets free of dust.
