We paid 68RM a night for a double room, including the 10RM tourist tax, and I'd stay here again if I return to Kuching. Room 7, at the front, was spacious and the AC worked well. It had windows, though afternoon sun made it warm unless we drew the curtains, and I noticed traffic noise some nights. My boyfriend didn't seem bothered, and earplugs would have helped, so it wasn't too bad overall. The shared spaces were well set up. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, a filtered water dispenser for filling bottles, and breakfast options like toast, eggs, and ramen. There were lots of hawkers nearby, with meals around 4 to 10RM for breakfast or lunch, and up to 20RM for dinner somewhere nice. The lounge had lots of seats, films often playing, and two computers. The bathrooms and showers were good too. Our floor had four separate shower stalls and three toilet rooms with bidet hoses. For hot water, you need to switch on the heater outside before getting in. The owners were very helpful and happy to talk us through day trips, whether on our own or by tour, and transport. Buses to most parks and attractions were cheap and easy to figure out, and the guesthouse owners explained where the stops were. We were there in the low season in December, so there were rooms even at the last minute.

I spent 10 nights here and it felt like a home away from home. The room was comfortable and had a window, and there were washing and drying facilities. Breakfast was provided, and the kitchen had what I needed to cook meals. The lounge had a TV, films to choose from, and books. Showers were good, with enough toilets across two floors. The staff were friendly and helpful. Even though the area isn't listed as central, the waterfront was only a 10-minute walk away. During my week there, the annual food market was five minutes away, as were level up gym and grocery stores.

The Wi-Fi was unreliable, but the air conditioning worked well. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and it was an easy walk to the waterfront, even though the place sits a little outside the city.

We stayed for over a week, through the festival and afterwards. The place had a relaxed feel and the staff were friendly and ready to help with everything. The living room AC was just way too cold ;)

A cosy place for backpackers, and the owner is friendly.
