Harbour View Hotel

The location is excellent, and I loved the harbor view from my room. But the property is worn, with a mouldy smell in both the hallway and room. The air conditioning barely cooled the room and wasn't working properly. We were also disappointed by the service. On the first day, the concierge and reception staff both said there was no bus to Paku Rock Maze Garden and told us to take Grab. We did, then later saw bus Q08M going to and from Paku Rock Maze Garden twice that day. The next day we asked where to catch the bus to Bako Jetty. The staff member kept mumbling a street name. We don't speak Malay, so couldn't understand her, and she got impatient. I asked her to write it down, but we couldn't find it on Google Maps. I handed her my phone to look it up, and she brought up “Electra House,” explaining that the street name she'd given us was an old name that didn't appear on Google Maps. I can't believe she gave us a street name that neither we nor she could clearly identify. Giving customers information that was false or unavailable and misleading us was unhelpful and unsupportive. We were disappointed with the stay.

We went for New Year's Eve 2026 and paid for entry knowing tables weren't guaranteed. Our tickets told us to arrive at 11am in the downstairs area allocated to us so we could get a seat. After two hours, we were told we couldn't sit at tables, then that stools at the wine barrels weren't allowed either. We had to stand for 10 hours! At 4pm, wine prices went up by $10, more than a 15% surcharge, and there were huge surcharges on everything. The staff were rude and honestly ruined our New Year's. I never leave reviews, but this was horrible.

I stayed here for quite a long time, but after this experience I have no intention of returning. Parking fines were a major problem: even when guests parked in the hotel's area, management wouldn't take responsibility or help, leaving people to deal with the fines themselves. The hotel's security and parking management felt poor and irresponsible. As a paying guest, I felt uncared for and disrespected. The staff and management showed little professionalism or concern for guests' safety, convenience, or well-being. A hotel should take customer service seriously, and it was unacceptable to neglect this part of the stay. I'd advise others to think carefully before booking, since the lack of security and accountability can easily spoil what should be a comfortable visit.

The food is delicious, but the way staff treat students isn't satisfactory. We know we're just kids, but that doesn't give them the right to reprimand us harshly.
