The Culvert

The two Sea View Suite rooms we were offered had the greatest view, and we had a wonderful family weekend at The Culvert Hotel Resort, Kuching Sarawak, on 17-18 Apr 2026. Natassa at reception deserves special thanks for her 5-star hospitality. Everyone from the front desk to F&B and housekeeping was friendly, helpful, and proactive, and made us feel at home. We enjoyed the resort's relaxing, lively feel and how it blends comfort with nature. The facilities were well maintained. Complimentary supper snacks and self-service laundry were thoughtful extras, and the Bali-style giant swing was a fun spot for photos. Breakfast was delicious and served in generous portions. A great stay for us, and highly recommended for families, couples, or solo getaways.

We never ran out of things to do, with two infinity pools, a giant swing, sauna, gym, and outdoor cinema. The pod rooms also made the stay feel special right from arrival. It's a fun place for couples to recharge, but the calm mood made it just as nice to spend the whole evening in our room watching TV and doing nothing. And it's only 30 minutes from Kuching.

The private beach is lovely, with soft sand and gentle waves, but it's very small and not long enough for a proper walk. There are plenty of places to lounge and enjoy the ocean view, including big round swings, plus two swimming pools. The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout. Natassa and Angelo at the front desk greeted us with warm smiles each day. Habib and Mirul handled our luggage, which was handy since the path is made of separate cement blocks and you can't roll bags along it. Fauddaus helped with the door, which is sealed very tightly to keep mosquitoes out. I'd recommend The Culvert for a quiet getaway. The room feels like a cozy cocoon. Bring bug repellent, though. Maybe they could provide coils outdoors.

The setting has a natural, serene feel, and the two pools, including one facing the ocean, were lovely for relaxing. We also really enjoyed the meals at Tanju Restaurant. The chefs did a great job, and every meal was enjoyable. Staff made the stay especially memorable. Catherine, Natasha, Alex, and the lady manager whose name we didn't catch were warm, attentive, and went out of their way to help. We arrived late on the first night, then upgraded to a bigger room the next morning. The staff let us switch and even choose the room we preferred. The following day we woke up late, but they still let us have the buffet included with our booking at no extra cost. There are still tiny insects around because of the lush surroundings, even though the resort fumigates regularly, so bring mosquito repellent. We had an amazing stay and would definitely love to return.
