Dreamland Beach Holiday

Getting there takes some planning: the quickest and most practical route is by boat, and you'll need to leave your car at the harbor on the opposite side. Food choices are limited, so ask the resort ahead of time. There's no Wi-Fi, though the phone signal is still good. The resort itself is one of a kind, with a lovely setup, spacious clean rooms, and very friendly staff. Rates were affordable, and the sea view and sunset were lovely.

The drive there was a nightmare. The road is in poor shape, too narrow for two cars side by side, and the tall grass scratched my car's paint. I know it's a hidden gem in a remote spot, but I wouldn't recommend this route for a small car. When I arrived, the gate was shut. I couldn't tell if the business was still operating or just temporarily closed, so I had to turn around and leave.

The dogs at the hotel were friendly and well trained at looking after guests. They had better manners than the manager, who was terribly rude. The other staff were nice and polite. The booking site doesn't clearly say guests are meant to arrive by ferry. Driving instead means nearly an hour on a narrow, unlit, single-lane gravel road through the jungle.

The scenery is beautiful and the place is nice, but the gravel road into the property, about 7 km of it, isn't maintained. We also had no water in our room from 11 p.m. until checkout at noon, so in the end we had to bathe in the restaurant bathroom. I won't return until things improve. 😔😡
