The Valai Hotel

I stayed in a suite with two bedrooms, a living room, two bathrooms and a kitchenette. It was a decent size for four people, though the kettle and sink were about all there was in the kitchen. There was also a minifridge, TV and hair dryer. The downtown location was convenient, it was quiet, and some parking spots were covered. There was no wifi, and the bathroom supplies were just soap, no shampoo or anything else. The counter staff were helpful and contacted me when I left something in the lobby.

The room is spacious and check-in was quick, so overall it was okay. But when we first entered, it smelled of smoke and the room smell needs attention. Soundproofing is poor too. We could hear people talking outside, which got noisy and disturbing, especially at night.

The people are nice, and overall it was okay. The restaurant closes early, at 3pm, and parking is limited. The road is very narrow for cars because it's so close to the old block of shops. I wish they'd add more 3-in-1 drinks.

We were four people in one of Ria Hotel's suites. For just below rm300 a night, it had two bedrooms, a living and dining space, kitchen, balcony and two toilet/bathrooms. The amenities matched what was advertised, though I expected more in the kitchen. The aircons were clean, and yes, I checked. It could have been really great, but the restaurant wasn't operating, and the wifi on the 3rd floor suite wasn't very strong. I'd stay there again, hopefully next time everything is available and it earns that 5-Star.
