The sunset bar has a great feel, and Tommy’s place is an under-rated beach gem with superb food, plenty of drinks, and an idyllic setting. I spent the afternoon in the sun and enjoyed the cool moonlit evenings. Don’t expect five-star resort standards, but it was above average and better than I expected. For anyone after a relaxed, rustic weekend away from city life, it could be a memorable experience. You do have to accept the flies, mozzies, ants, and lizards, and respect that they’re native and part of the place. I’m a city girl and managed fine, so you can too. Water and wind sports can be tailored for amateurs or professionals, though I didn’t get to try them this time.

We did lots of activities with the family and had a satisfying stay. The room was spacious, quiet, and clean, with a beach-front view so we could enjoy the beach. The restaurant food was good, though a bit pricey, and the place is far from the city. Tip of Borneo is only 10 minutes from the homestay. Good spot for a short vacation, and we’ll come back in the future.

The cutlery needs better attention to sanitation, and the kitchen could use some organizing since there were many wrong orders. The restaurant service staff also need more training.

The beach out front was in good condition, with tables, chairs, hammocks, and a swing for spending time together. The room and toilet were neat and clean, though there’s no TV. It’s on the way to Tip of Borneo and about a half-hour drive from Kudat town, so you need your own transport.

We came back over the Christmas holidays and stayed one night in the family room with a sea view. It was nice and comfy. On our first visit, we needed somewhere to hang out before travelling back to KK that evening. Around 9am we were surprised to find a shady spot with a proper beach setup. We asked, and it was fine to use the beach. There was a small fee if you used facilities such as the outdoor shower. We had breakfast there too.
