The location is handy, next to some nice bars, but there are better places just one block away. I paid a bit less at another room one road over and it was ten times better. Here, the bathroom fixtures were rusty and the doors looked close to falling off the walls. There’s a back entrance that isn’t watched overnight, so anyone can get in and it didn’t feel very safe. The place smelled strongly of smoke, and the smell had got into the bedding and seemed almost in the walls. It never went away. I had to ask for the aircon remote, and nobody gave me the Wi-Fi. There was a room, a bed, a toilet, and a door that locked. That’s about all it met from my expectations. It was very overpriced.

I booked through the OYO app, but when I arrived they said they’d opted out of online bookings a year earlier. That was confusing. The room was listed at RM55, but I was asked to pay RM70. I checked in around 6pm and worried other hotels might be fully booked, so I had to accept it. By one-star hotel standards, I guess it fits.

The room smelled bad, the TV didn’t work, and the water pressure was very low.
