The Executive Hotel Lahad Datu

The banquet hall served its purpose, though I didn't see or use a room. The lobby had very little space, which was understandable given the limited room, and there was adequate parking. Toilets were clean and the staff were courteous. It's in a prime location in saki naka with good metro connections.

The surroundings weren't very clean, and despite the hotel ad saying internet was provided, the response I got was an impolite “no, no, no.” There was no parking either. We needed an extra room, and the staff member explaining things had a bad attitude. The next day we went out to take care of something and forgot to tell the hotel we wanted to keep a room for two more nights. The receptionist scolded us. They should have politely asked whether we wanted to continue staying and explained that we had forgotten to notify them, instead of scolding us.

The hotel door was broken, so people could come into my room at any time, and there was no CCTV. When I asked about the door, customer service laughed at me. Really bad service and rude staff. That soft guy. First and last time here.

The location is right in Lahad Datu city center, with food, a bank, and convenience stores all close by. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and my room was clean and comfortable for a good rest. I noticed a couple of small issues: water overflowed from the flush tank, and the bathroom water pressure was a bit weak, though both were manageable. I'm satisfied overall. A simple, affordable place to stay.
