Casa del Mar, Langkawi

The boutique size means the service feels personal, and the staff were attentive and made us feel special from arrival. It's a quiet beachside choice for couples or anyone wanting a relaxing stay. The location at the start of Cenang Beach gives direct access to the sand and makes for lovely evening walks. Ground floor rooms have private gardens with curtains for privacy, a nice spot to relax or look at the stars. Little touches include welcome drinks, pleasant fragrances, and candles lit in the rooms and gardens. Breakfast combines a buffet with à la carte choices, fresh fruit, and local dishes. There's also a pool with jacuzzi, a gym, and an optional cooking class with the chef. The hotel is a bit old, and some furniture, especially the bathtub, shows its age. Because of the natural surroundings, you can expect some insects in the rooms or gardens, which is normal in Langkawi. In peak season, early check-in can be hard with so few rooms, though they offer alternatives such as lounge access or complimentary breakfast.

The included continental breakfast is a must, with coffee made to order, eggs, pancakes, local dishes, fresh squeezed juices, and homemade breads, pastries, and jams. You can also mix yourself a Bloody Mary or screwdriver at the bar, though I don't drink. Staff were attentive in a lovely way, greeting us whenever we came and went, and showing genuine interest in how we were doing. Each night, turndown came with fresh fruit and weather tips or outing suggestions. After one rainy day, we even found hot cocoa ready in mugs when we got back. We had our own little slice of paradise for the week at Casa Del Mar. The pool and beach are right there, and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance if you want to head out. It was a beautiful getaway in Langkawi, and I highly recommend it.

The staff were wonderful, bringing fruit, water, and cold towels out to our beach chairs. The food was nice, and each evening they brought a spa scent into the room. I wasn't sure about booking because the room interiors weren't my style, but I'm glad I did. The rooms with their own gardens are lovely and right in front of the beach, which made the stay feel perfect. I'd come back anytime.
